As part of the AI-Enhanced Study Abroad Office series, this session explores how artificial intelligence can be used to strengthen global student connection through more personalized advising and engagement strategies. Participants will examine practical use cases for AI that enhance communication, support student decision-making, and foster meaningful connections between U.S. students and international peers. Grounded in the values and standards of the field, the session will also address ethical considerations, including data privacy, equity, and responsible implementation. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies to thoughtfully integrate AI into their education abroad practice.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify practical applications of AI to enhance personalized advising in education abroad. Participants will be able to recognize how AI tools can be used to support student engagement, streamline communication, and tailor advising approaches to meet diverse student needs.
2. Evaluate strategies for using AI to foster meaningful connections between U.S. students and international peers. Participants will explore how AI can support cross-cultural engagement, community building, and pre-departure or on-campus integration in ways that align with student development and intercultural learning goals.
3. Apply responsible and ethical considerations when integrating AI into education abroad practices. Participants will be able to assess how to implement AI in ways that prioritize data privacy, equity, and alignment with institutional policies and professional standards.
NAFSA Peer-to-Peer Perspectives facilitate an online dialogue between international education professionals. Participants come prepared to listen, learn, and share with their peers.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellation requests for nonmembers must be made in writing to our Education Abroad form no later than 2 weeks before the live start date of the event. There is a $15 cancellation fee if the cancellation request is received in writing at least 2 weeks before the live start date of the event. No refunds will be issued if the cancellation request is made less than 2 weeks before the live start date of the event, unless the event is cancelled by NAFSA. If the event is cancelled by NAFSA, full refunds will be issued.
Refunds minus the cancellation fee, if approved, will be processed 2 to 4 weeks after the live event ends. If payment is made by credit card, a credit will be issued to your credit card account; otherwise, a refund check will be issued.
It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure that the technology, including online conference platforms, properly works on the computer/device that will be used to attend the live event. Refunds will not be issued for technical or connectivity issues experienced by participants.
