You’ll receive insider-analysis of the political landscape in Washington, the latest in stories and statistics that make the case for a globally-engaged student population, and in-depth training on how best to engage Congress to serve the students, scholars, and policies that matter to you.
This year’s format features exclusive pre-recorded, on-demand training and a half-day of live, virtual training and strategizing with NAFSA policy experts and your peers. Following that, you will be fully prepared to engage with Congress—from the comfort of your (home) office on the second day of our event.
Advocacy Day 2024 will be entirely virtual and held over the course of two days. March 7 will feature a half-day of training on the issues with NAFSA public policy experts followed by practice sessions with your peers to prepare for the congressional meetings. March 13 will be devoted to your virtual meetings with members of Congress. We ask all participants to block off the entire day.
As always, NAFSA will arrange personal meetings with your elected officials and/or their staff. Participants can expect at least one meeting with their elected officials or staff and one with a lawmaker not in their delegation, for a minimum of two congressional meetings. The tentative event schedule is as follows:
- Day 1--March 7, 2024, 2:00 p.m. ET - 5:00 p.m. ET
- Briefing on issues and requests of Congress
- Virtual meeting practice sessions
- Advocate of the Year announcement
- Networking mixer
- Day 2 --March 13, 2024, 9:30 a.m. ET - 4:30 p.m. ET
- Group convening for last-minute updates/questions
- Virtual congressional meetings (exact timing TBD)
- Group debrief and planning for year-round advocacy

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made by 11:59 pm ET on January 19, 2024, will be fully refunded, minus a $25 administrative fee. After that, registrations are nonrefundable.
- Refunds, if approved, will be processed four to six weeks after the event.
- If payment is made by credit card, a credit will be issued to your credit card account; otherwise, a refund check will be issued.
- A $25 cancellation fee will be deducted from event registration refunds for paid participants.
- No refunds will be issued for partial attendance.
